Dr. Carey Viala is an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of expertise in adult mental health. With a focus on areas such as depression, anxiety, adjustment to injury and illness, eating disorders, trauma, burnout and imposter syndrome, Dr. Viala has made a significant impact in helping individuals navigate their psychological challenges.
Dr. Viala's key skills lie in utilizing third wave behavioral therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Additionally, Dr. Viala is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, offering a comprehensive approach to trauma therapy.
She has recently undertaken training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. As a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) holder and a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Dr. Viala maintains the highest professional standards in the field. Gavin Copland has long been an enthusiastic user of the outdoors. He grew up exploring the Pennines and the upper Lakeland fells near his family home in Teesdale and at 19 joined the Army Reserve and trained with the British Army in various (mostly wet and windy) environments across the UK and overseas. Gavin gained Mountain Leader status at the National Outdoor Centre in Plas-Y-Brenin and has worked and volunteered in the outdoors in a variety of contexts.
He has worked as a Coastguard Rescue Officer in the Fort William Sector while living on the Isle of Rum; lead expeditions in the Lakes, the Peaks and the Yorkshire Dales and taught bushcraft, survival & rescue skills and First Aid. Gavin is a Qualified Mountain Leader, Rescue Emergency Care 1stAid trained and is insured for all activities provided. He has an Enhanced DBS and is trained to Level 4 in Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults.
He has worked as a Designated Safeguarding Lead for a Special Education & Social Care trust. He is passionate about our countryside, protecting it, and protecting those who enjoy it and whether you are forest bathing or cold water dipping, you can be assured you are in good hands with him.
